ABOUT OUR CHURCH
Regardless of one's age, race, life-story, or standpoint, each unique individual is welcomed within our church. No matter where a branch of the Global Methodist Church may be located, the underlying structure remains the same, which we refer to as "connectionalism." We strive to weave the fabric between our disciples through our appointed-clergy system, mission-based outreach practices, and united giving.
Our Church thrives because of the energy and style of the people who are a part of our leadership.
Our Pastor, Joshua Swaim, is an ordained elder in the Global Methodist Church. He teaches from the word of God and holds the Bible to be the inherent truth of God.
He and his wife Kaitlyn have six wonderful children and live locally. Kaitlyn is active in our praise band and helps us keep our social media up to date.
Living Hope Global Methodist was founded as the Lisbon United Methodist Church in 1840 and has a rich history.
In 1840 Dr. Nelson Rathbun, a local preacher and physician, preached the first Methodist sermon in Yankee Grove (Lisbon) in the log cabin home of John Danahoo, just east of the creek in the present South Street. Only a few settlers were here at that time. The early ministers were circuit riders with a large area to serve.
Lisbon United Methodist was renamed Living Hope Global Methodist Church July 1, 2023.
Our vision is to Join God in a journey of bringing new life, reconciliation, and the presence of Christ to all people, and to helping each person reflect the character of Christ.
